Job summary

Staffworxs is seeking a Senior Java Backend Developer to design, build, and secure REST APIs and microservices in a hybridMechancisburg environment. You will implement authentication using Spring Security and OAuth2/OIDC, architect scalable data access with Hibernate, and ensure robust observability with OpenTelemetry.

The role requires 8+ years in backend development, 5+ years with Spring Boot microservices, and experience with PKI/KMS/COSE.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend development experience with 5+ years in Spring/Spring Boot microservices.
• Expert knowledge of modern Java (17+), concurrency, and virtual threads.
• Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Data JPA, and Spring Cloud.
• PostgreSQL or equivalent databases with JPA/Hibernate tuning.
• Messaging with Kafka or Azure Service Bus.
• OAuth2/OIDC authentication and authorization.
• Working knowledge of PKI, HSM/KMS, and COSE/CBOR.
• Maven, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and OpenTelemetry-based observability.
• Strong mentoring, technical writing, and stakeholder communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and document REST APIs and backend microservices.
• Implement secure authentication and authorization using Spring Security, OAuth2, OIDC, RBAC, and least privilege.
• Apply secure coding practices including input validation and secure secrets management.
• Implement cryptographic signing and encryption using Bouncy Castle and cloud KMS/HSM SDKs.
• Build reliable services with Resilience4j and optimize data access with Spring Data JPA/Hibernate.
• Develop unit and integration tests using JUnit 5, Mockito, and Testcontainers.
• Lead design reviews and document architectural decisions.
• Mentor junior developers and conduct code reviews.
• Collaborate with architecture, security, DevOps, QA, and front-end teams; communicate risks and progress.
• Support production services through incident response and root-cause analysis.
