University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) is hiring an IT Systems Administrator to support VMware and Linux server workloads, monitor systems, and assist senior staff. The role emphasizes automation using Ansible, scripting, and incident response within a hybrid work setting.

The candidate will contribute to system security, maintenance, and documentation while collaborating with faculty and IT teams to ensure reliable operation of research and educational infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field or year-for-year substitution accepted.
• Experience supporting Ansible, Chef, Salt, or Puppet is required.
• Experience with monitoring and virtualization tools such as Zabbix, Nagios, Grafana, Icinga, and PRTG is required.
• Knowledge of cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, GCP) is preferred.
• RHCSA certification or equivalent is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Linux and Windows servers and VMware vSphere environments.
• Configure and manage Active Directory integration and system administration tasks.
• Develop automation scripts with Bash and Ansible playbooks.
• Monitor security, performance, and incident response; assist with ticket escalations.
• Document work, track milestones, and train users on systems.
