Job summary

The Inventory Accountant I at Sally Beauty Holdings, Inc. supports accounting and reporting across retail, distribution, and corporate operations, with emphasis on accurate inventory valuation, reconciliations, and SOX controls.

This hybrid role works from our Legacy West Support Center in Plano, TX and partners with Operations, Supply Chain, Distribution Centers, and Finance teams to maintain inventory integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 1–3 years accounting experience, preferably in inventory, cost accounting, retail, distribution, or supply chain environments.
• Experience supporting month-end close and general ledger reconciliations.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of SOX compliance and internal controls preferred.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as Lawson, SAP, Oracle or similar.

Responsibilities

• Perform inventory account reconciliations and investigate variances to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare and analyze inventory-related journal entries and general ledger transactions.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities related to inventory accounting.
• Review inventory adjustments, transfers, reserves, write-offs, and other inventory transactions for accuracy and compliance.
• Analyze inventory trends and provide reporting to support business decision‑making.
• Partner with Supply Chain, Distribution Centers, Merchandising, and Operations teams to resolve inventory discrepancies.
• Assist with physical inventory counts and cycle count reconciliation processes.
• Support internal and external audits by providing inventory‑related documentation and analysis.
• Ensure compliance with SOX controls and company accounting policies.
• Identify opportunities to improve inventory accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
• Support special projects and other accounting duties as assigned.
