Dartmouth College is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer II to design, build, and operate secure compute, storage, and cloud platforms that support research, teaching, and administration. The role emphasizes end-to-end ownership from design through security, operations, and lifecycle management.

As a hands-on engineer, you will work across on-premises and public cloud environments, mentor junior staff, and lead technical delivery on projects in a security-conscious environment.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information security, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 4+ years of experience supporting production infrastructure in enterprise or research computing environments.
• Strong Linux and/or Windows systems administration and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience automating infrastructure with scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Hands-on experience with virtualization, public cloud, identity systems, containers, or HPC.
• Knowledge of infrastructure security, including hardening, vulnerability management, access controls, and firewalls.
• Networking knowledge including VLANs, routing, and DNS.
• Ability to work independently and communicate technical decisions clearly.

Responsabilidades

• Builds and maintains automation and configuration management for compute, storage, identity, cloud, container, and research platforms.
• Operates and supports research computing environments, including Slurm-based HPC clusters and GPU/AI compute.
• Keeps platforms healthy with monitoring, capacity planning, patching, and lifecycle management.
• Implements backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity for platforms.
• Leads troubleshooting of complex incidents and performs root cause analysis.
• Maintains infrastructure networking (VLANs, routing, VPN, DNS) and runbooks.
