Job summary

STV is seeking an enthusiastic Hydraulics Engineering Intern in Charlotte, NC to work with experienced water resources and transportation professionals on infrastructure projects. The role is hybrid, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office, with preference for a three-month commitment and full-time during that period.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering at an ABET-accredited university.
• Coursework or demonstrated interest in hydraulics, hydrology, stormwater management, or water resources.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and communicate effectively.
• This position is not eligible for sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Assist in hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for transportation and infrastructure projects.
• Support development of stormwater management reports and drainage studies.
• Assist with storm drain, culvert, and erosion and sediment control design tasks.
• Use hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software (HEC-RAS, StormCAD, etc.) as assigned.
• Prepare drawings using MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, or AutoCAD.
• Format reports, calculations, and specs for project documentation.
• Assist with project file management and document organization.
• Gain exposure to permitting processes (NPDES and state stormwater requirements).
• Use company software to complete tasks.
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
