Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced HV Substation Commissioning Engineer in the Chicago area. The role involves overseeing commissioning activities, reviewing designs, troubleshooting, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure safe, reliable energization of substation systems.

Ideal candidates possess 15+ years in construction and commissioning of high-voltage substations, knowledge of protection relays (ABB, AREVA, Siemens, SEL), and the ability to interpret AC/DC schematics.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in construction & commissioning at high voltage substations.
• Familiarity with microprocessor protection relays (ABB, AREVA, Siemens, SEL).
• Ability to read AC/DC schematics and wiring diagrams for protection, transformer protection, bus differential, and related schemes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee commissioning activities for substation projects and ensure compliance with standards.
• Provide engineering oversight, review designs, troubleshoot, and coordinate with teams.
• Manage system testing, verification, and energization for safe operation.
• Work with construction, engineering, and operations teams to drive project completion.
