Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a senior engineer to manage and grow a project team focused on the design, modification, and analysis of large high voltage substations. You will guide engineers and designers from concept through detailed design, field support, and project closeout.

Applicants should have 10+ years in multi-discipline HV substation design, strong leadership and client liaison skills, and familiarity with NEC/IEEE standards. Travel to sites and client meetings is expected.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required.
• 10+ years in multi-discipline HV substation design.
• 5+ years leading an engineering design team.
• Experience with MISO facility studies and DPP process.
• Knowledge of NEC/NESC/NEMA/IEC/IEEE/ANSI standards.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and client meetings.
• Strong communication and client liaison abilities.
• Experience with construction documents and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Direct the Team Lead in coordinating engineering and design from concept to detailed design execution.
• Grow and manage a project team of engineers and designers for high voltage substations.
• Coordinate with clients, report progress, resolve conflicts, and support account management.
• Lead efforts to complete projects on time and within budget.
• Coordinate and execute facility studies for various RTOs.
• Ensure installation and operations meet specifications and standards.
• Prepare reports and studies in clear, client-ready formats.
• Review work and calculations for accuracy and quality.
• May drive business development opportunities with existing and new clients.
