Job summary

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is seeking an Employee Health Programs Assistant to support on-the-job injury claims and maritime claims processing. You will handle medical bills, coordinate with employees and providers, and maintain confidential records while assisting the Maritime Claims Administrator.

This hybrid role requires accurate data handling, clear communication, and dedication to safety and workforce support across agency programs.

Qualifications

• Ability to apply sound judgment and escalate when needed.
• Manage competing priorities and meet strict timelines.
• Explain HR policies clearly to employees, claimants, and vendors.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook/Teams/Excel/Word).

Responsibilities

• Interpret and explain HR rules, policies, and bargaining provisions for on-the-job injury claims.
• Explain maritime maintenance and cure processes and required documentation.
• Respond to routine maritime claim inquiries and document responses.
• Compile, review, and organize responsive claim documentation.
• Provide claimants with information and documents; act as factual witness when needed.
• Monitor mailboxes and coordinate with the Maritime Claims Administrator.
• Review invoices and reconcile payments; respond to vendor inquiries.
• Review third-party EOR documents and provide necessary documentation.
• Provide Workers’ Compensation and Maritime Claims support.
