Job summary

RS&H in Denver, CO is seeking a Highway Engineer to join our Infrastructure team. You will design roadways for DOT and municipal clients, from concept through construction, collaborating with a skilled team to deliver transportation projects that connect communities.

The role requires a ABET-accredited civil engineering degree, 5+ years of roadway experience, and proficiency in design standards. The salary range in Colorado is $98,500–$127,000.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited civil engineering degree or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years of roadway/highway engineering experience
• Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local design standards, regs, and codes
• Experience preparing construction documents and engineering plans
• Strong problem-solving abilities with practical design solutions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to build and maintain client relationships with stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Perform roadway and highway design, analysis, and plan production for transportation projects
• Prepare project specifications, reports, cost estimates, technical studies, and construction documents
• Analyze engineering data to develop practical design solutions
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to meet schedules and budgets
• Conduct quality control reviews and participate in field reviews and construction observations
• Support project delivery by monitoring schedules, budgets, and progress
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff
• Assist with client development, proposals, and business development initiatives
