RS&H in Denver, CO is seeking a Highway Engineer to join our Infrastructure team. You will design roadways for DOT and municipal clients, from concept through construction, collaborating with a skilled team to deliver transportation projects that connect communities.

The role requires a ABET-accredited civil engineering degree, 5+ years of roadway experience, and proficiency in design standards. The salary range in Colorado is $98,500–$127,000.

• Minimum 5 years of roadway/highway engineering experience
• Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local design standards, regs, and codes
• Experience preparing construction documents and engineering plans
• Strong problem-solving abilities with practical design solutions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to build and maintain client relationships with stakeholders

RS&H is seeking a Highway Engineer to join our growing Infrastructure team. This position offers a flexible hybrid work schedule, combining in-office collaboration with remote work.

In this role, you'll contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of roadway and highway projects for DOT, county, and municipal clients. You'll work alongside a collaborative team of engineers and technical professionals, supporting projects from concept development through construction while helping shape transportation infrastructure that connects communities.

What You'll Do

• Perform roadway and highway design, engineering analysis, and plan production for transportation projects
• Prepare project specifications, reports, cost estimates, technical studies, and construction documents
• Analyze and interpret engineering data to develop practical and innovative design solutions
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on schedule and within budget
• Conduct quality control reviews and participate in field reviews and construction observations
• Support project delivery by monitoring schedules, budgets, and task progress
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff and engineering support team members
• Assist with client development, proposal efforts, and business development initiatives

What You'll Need

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum 5 years of roadway/highway engineering experience
• Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local transportation design standards, regulations, and codes
• Experience of preparing construction documents and engineering plans
• Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to develop innovative, practical solutions
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients, contractors, stakeholders, and project team members

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD) and/or Autodesk Civil 3D and Bluebeam Revu
• Experience delivering projects for DOT, county, and municipal clients
