Job summary

Howard County Government is seeking an experienced engineering manager to oversee the Traffic Engineering Division. The role involves mid-management responsibilities, budget oversight, and supervision of staff within the Bureau of Highways.

Responsibilities include engineering plan reviews, project construction oversight, and multi-agency coordination to ensure compliance with regulations and successful project delivery. A Maryland PE license is preferred; a Master’s degree is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
• Maryland Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred.
• Master's degree or MBA is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and supervise staff.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Administrative and Division budgets, capital and operating.
• Review complex plans and ensure compliance with codes and regulations.
• Direct all phases of large-scale capital project construction and bid processes.
• Coordinate with developers, engineers, and agencies to resolve design challenges.
