Job summary

GuideWell is seeking a Specialist II in Group Underwriting to support mid-size groups (up to 299 contracts) for new business quotes and renewal calculations. The role involves risk assessment, pricing policy adjustments, and collaboration with Sales to explain rates.

Responsibilities include preparing underwriter reports, 5500s, and annual accountings, while mentoring junior staff and supporting special projects. A related Bachelor's degree is preferred along with 2+ years in underwriting.

Qualifications

• 2+ years related work experience including claim analysis and projection.
• Experience with group health insurance products, pricing, underwriting and marketing strategies.
• Knowledge of state and federal statutes and regulations.
• Ability to interpret and analyze medical and other underwriting data.
• Thorough knowledge of company systems and procedures to meet specialized needs.

Responsibilities

• Assess 51-299 Exception Requests for new business and renewal rates.
• Perform risk assessment based on medical information.
• Prepare weekly underwriter's report and monthly detailed analyses.
• Analyze data to determine group renewal rates and 5500s.
• Collaborate with Sales Reps to explain rate structures.
• Mentor lower-level underwriters and support training.
