Job summary

University of Washington is seeking a Grants and Contracts Manager/Specialist to oversee pre- and post-award activities for the Mechanical Engineering department. The role coordinates complex budgets, sub-awards, and compliance with sponsor and university policies.

You will work with PIs, researchers, and staff, managing reporting, invoicing, and subcontracts while ensuring timely deadlines and efficient operations in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Program Management or related field.
• Minimum three years of research administration, grant and/or contract management, or finance/accounting.
• Experience in academic research management (pre- and post-award).
• Experience developing and monitoring complex budgets.
• Knowledge of federal funding agencies policies and regulations (NIH/DOD/NSF/DOE).
• Ability to manage priorities to meet deadlines with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Manage preparation and submission of grant proposals and sub-awards.
• Develop complex budgets and administrative sections of proposals.
• Monitor compliance with regulations and UW policies.
• Provide training on pre-award and post-award management.
• Facilitate NDAs and IP agreements related to awards and purchases.
• Oversee and complete grant transfers between institutions.
