Job summary

MetLife’s Global Technology team seeks a Director – Linux Engineering & Operations to lead the global Linux platform, security, and reliability across regions. This senior role drives automation-first workflows, infrastructure-as-code, and SRE principles to modernize hosting services and deliver resilient platforms for business operations.

Location is hybrid in the United States (minimum 3 days in office).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a related field.
• Deep Linux engineering, operations, and lifecycle management at scale (RHEL).
• Strong SRE concepts including automation, observability, incident management, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead the global Linux Engineering & Operations organization with clear direction and accountability.
• Create an operating model based on SRE, automation-first practices, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Oversee security, patching, lifecycle management, and risk-aligned compliance for Linux platforms.
• Drive large-scale global infrastructure operations, capacity planning, incident response, and post-incident analysis.
• Promote GitOps workflows using Ansible, Terraform, and related tooling; improve observability through modern tooling.
