Job summary

Segal McCambridge, a national litigation firm, is seeking an experienced General Liability Defense Paralegal to join its New York City team and support defense attorneys across a busy portfolio. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, balancing in-office and remote work.

The candidate will handle the full litigation lifecycle, from case development and discovery through depositions, motion practice, settlement, and trial preparation, working closely with attorneys to keep matters on track.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a paralegal in a litigation environment.
• Experience supporting attorneys with discovery, document management, case organization, and deadlines.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple cases and competing priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and proactive problem-solving.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with attorneys and team members.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
• Familiarity with e-discovery platforms and litigation databases.
• Ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and revise pleadings, motions, discovery demands and responses for attorney review.
• Coordinate all discovery aspects including production and tracking.
• Review and organize medical records, incident reports, and other documents.
• Assist attorneys with depositions, hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations.
• Draft subpoenas and manage responses with third-party providers.
• Maintain accurate case files and litigation databases.
• Manage calendars and docket deadlines with the team.
• Support e-discovery processes and trial preparation.
• Track billable time and document time entries.
• Perform legal research as requested by attorneys.
