Job summary

Wilson Elser is seeking a General Liability Associate Attorney in Charlotte, NC, to join a nationally recognized firm with a strong litigation focus.

The ideal candidate will handle defense matters from inception through trial, collaborate across offices, and contribute to a high-performance team. A JD from an ABA-accredited school and NC bar admission are required, with 2+ years of defense litigation experience preferred.

Qualifications

• JD from an ABA accredited law school.
• Admitted to practice in North Carolina.
• 2+ years defense litigation experience.
• Experience with general liability, premises, products, transportation, employment, or insurance preferred.
• Experience drafting discovery and pretrial motions.
• Superior analytical and communication skills.
• Sophisticated technical skills; court appearances and depositions a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support a litigation caseload from inception to resolution, including strategy, discovery, motion practice, mediation, and trial.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and legal memoranda.
• Prepare reports and communicate with clients/insurers.
• Collaborate with colleagues across departments and offices, contributing to a cohesive and supportive team environment.
• Participate in court hearings, depositions, and mediations when opportunities arise.
