Job summary

Nelnet, Inc. in Centennial, CO is seeking an IT Software Engineer to contribute to a cross-functional team on the WREN diversification initiative, an AI-enabled onboarding and case support platform for state Health and Human Services agencies.

You will implement backend services and frontend components, translate requirements into working software, participate in code reviews, and help deliver the MVP with a path to ongoing product work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience with cloud platforms and databases as listed.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design and development of application features in a cross-functional scrum team.
• Implement backend services and API and front-end UI components.
• Translate business and technical requirements into working software.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code following team standards.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and iterative refinement.
• Assist in diagnosing defects, performance issues, and integration problems.
• Collaborate with product, design, domain experts to deliver goals.
• Adapt to evolving requirements and priorities within project timeline.
