Job summary

Coral Care is seeking a senior full-stack software engineer in New York City to own domains across the API and data layer, migrate toward a modern TypeScript/Node.js monorepo on AWS, and contribute to AI-powered matching within a HIPAA-conscious architecture.

You will work across React and Node.js services in a hybrid setup, collaborating with operations, clinical, and GTM teams to deliver meaningful, safety-conscious software for families and providers.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience building, shipping, and maintaining production systems.
• Ability to own a feature or domain end to end with little supervision.
• Strong craft with emphasis on code quality, design, testing, and long-term health of systems.
• Modern AI in workflow: using AI agents appropriately and evaluating results critically.
• Fluency in more than one statically typed language (TypeScript preferred).
• Strong API design and data access pattern understanding, with scalable abstractions.
• Comfort with a cloud-native, infrastructure-as-code environment (AWS CDK).

Responsibilities

• Own specific domains within API and data layer, implementing them independently and ensuring correct data modeling and access patterns.
• Assist migration to a modern architecture, moving systems onto a typed TypeScript/Node.js monorepo on AWS.
• Contribute to matching and marketplace logic to pair families with providers and support AI-driven features.
• Build across the stack: React frontend and Node.js services, within an IaC setup on AWS.
• Uphold engineering practices: testing, code reviews, and design-doc standards.
• Help ensure HIPAA compliance in data flows, access controls, and audit paths.
