Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to contribute to projects that protect lives and property while helping shape resilient environments.

Our hybrid work model allows time in the office and remote work. The role supports projects for federal, state, and local clients and can be based in multiple offices including Fairfax, VA, Raleigh, NC, or Boston, MA.

You will develop designs, review drafts for compliance, and mentor junior engineers across the fire protection discipline.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering, or related discipline; PE license preferred.
• Professional engineering (PE) license.
• 7 years of related experience; travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Develop fire protection designs including water supply, hydraulic analyses, and detailed plans for sprinkler and suppression systems.
• Act as QFPE for federal projects, providing life safety and fire protection design.
• Review designs for compliance with NFPA, UFC and local regulations; sign off on completed work.
• Create fire protection and life safety designs and evaluations as needed.
