Job summary

CDM Smith seeks a Fire Protection Engineer to design robust life-safety systems for environmental and infrastructure projects. You will contribute to life safety analyses and fire protection design on federal and civilian programs, mentoring junior staff and ensuring NFPA/UFC compliance.

The role offers a hybrid work model with opportunities across multiple U.S. offices. A PE license and 7+ years in the field are preferred, with travel as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Professional engineering (PE) license.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Willingness to travel domestically or internationally as required.
• Experience with federal projects and NFPA/UFC standards is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Developing fire protection designs including hydraulics, water supply, and sprinkler systems.
• Acting as QFPE for work with federal projects and life safety analyses.
• Reviewing designs for compliance and signing off on them.
• Mentoring junior staff and supervising engineers on projects.
• Collaborating with sales to respond to RFPs and review proposals.
