Job summary

CDM Smith seeks a Fire Protection Engineer to design fire protection, life safety, and alarm systems for federal and other projects. You will contribute to life safety analyses, review designs for NFPA/UFC compliance, and help develop proposals with sales staff.

Hybrid work opportunities available with offices nationwide. Requires PE license, 7 years' experience, and ability to mentor junior staff while coordinating with clients and project teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Develop fire protection system designs including water supply, hydraulics, sprinklers, suppression, pumps and alarms.
• Act as QFPE for federal projects with life safety and fire protection analyses.
• Review designs for compliance with NFPA, UFC, and local regulations; sign off on designs.
• Collaborate with sales to create proposals and respond to RFPs.
• Meet with clients to review design needs and perform site assessments.
