Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to design comprehensive fire protection systems for infrastructure projects. The role includes life safety analyses, NFPA/UFC compliance, and collaboration with sales to respond to client RFPs.

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge of CAD/BIM and 3D/4D design practices.
• Strong understanding of engineering design principles.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Extensive knowledge of federal, state and local regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develop fire protection designs including sprinkler and alarm systems with water supply analyses.
• Act as QFPE for federal projects.
• Review designs for regulatory compliance and sign off on documents.
• Create fire protection and life safety analysis and evaluations.
• Evaluate systems using HydraCAD/HydraCALC and similar tools.
• Ensure designs comply with NFPA, UFC and local codes.
• Collaborate with sales to prepare response to RFPs and review proposals.
• Meet with clients to review current and future design needs.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
