Job summary

Nova Clean Energy is seeking a Financial Controller to oversee the accounting function for a global investment company. This hybrid Chicago role covers tax, audit, and all close activities across multiple entities, reporting to the VP of Finance.

You will manage outsourced and internal teams, drive internal controls, and optimize finance processes with a focus on accuracy and efficiency. Renewable energy experience is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• CPA with a minimum of 5 years' experience.
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP with consolidation accounting experience.
• Experience in compilation of multi-entity tax returns and tax documentation, K-1’s, 1099 and knowledge of flow-through entities preferred.
• Strong understanding of capital accounts and cost allocations.
• Experience in renewable energy preferred.
• Excellent technical/analytical and interpersonal skills with high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly and quarterly close processes and consolidate results across entities.
• Oversee tax, audit, and financial reporting activities for operating entities.
• Design and maintain internal controls and KPI governance for outsourced accounting.
• Manage intercompany reconciliations and multi-currency translation tie-outs.
• Drive process improvements and automation using data/AI tools.
