Job summary

The Public Theater in New York, NY seeks a Finance Associate to support daily accounting operations under the Controller. You will manage Accounts Payable, cash flow, reconciliations, and provide tech-enabled process improvements. Collaborate with departments and assist with month-end close and audits.

Ideal candidates bring 2+ years in accounting/finance, experience with Financial Edge NXT, SAP Concur, Tessitura, and strong Excel skills. Hybrid on-site requirements apply.

Qualifications

• Coursework in Finance, Accounting, or related field or equivalent work experience.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Accounts Payable process and regular disbursements.
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of accounting transactions and postings.
• Provide staff support for accounting software issues.
• Oversee corporate credit card tracking, reconciliation, and reporting.
• Maintain vendor relationships and resolve payment inquiries.
• Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts.
• Support expense recognition, accruals, and prepaid expenses.
• Assist with monthly and year-end close activities.
• Prepare schedules and documentation for the annual audit.
• Process and deposit incoming checks for earned revenue and contributions.
• Provide support to Accounts Receivable activities.
• Collaborate with Development on contributed revenue and pledge invoicing.
• Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analyses.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and internal controls.
