Job summary

LaBella Associates is seeking a Staff Geologist/Environmental Scientist in the Birmingham, AL office to perform groundwater, soil, and surface water sampling and support multiple environmental projects. You will manage field and lab data, supervise contractors, and coordinate with project managers, balancing fieldwork with office duties.

The role requires a degree in geology or environmental science, 1–3 years of related experience, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Geology or Environmental Science preferred
• 1-3 years of experience in a related environmental position
• 40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification preferred but not required
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environmental consulting team environment
• Ability to work within a multi-disciplined group of professionals
• Strong communication skills (active listening, written, and verbal)
• Organized with strong attention to detail
• Highly motivated, with excellent client service skills and a positive attitude
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Valid AL driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation
