Job summary

LaBella is seeking a Staff Geologist/Environmental Scientist for our Birmingham, AL office in the Waste & Recycling division. The role combines field sampling (groundwater, soil, surface water) with data management and reporting, working within a multidisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate has a B.S. in Geology or Environmental Science, 1–3 years of related experience, and the ability to work independently and in a team; OSHA HAZWOPER is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Geology or Environmental Science preferred.
• 1-3 years of experience in a related environmental position.
• 40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environmental consulting team environment.
• Ability to work within a multi-disciplined group of professionals.
• Strong communication skills (active listening, written, and verbal).
• Organized with strong attention to detail.
• Highly motivated, with excellent client service skills and a positive attitude.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Valid AL driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Perform field work including groundwater, soil, and surface water sampling.
• Submit samples to a laboratory for analysis and manage field and lab data.
• Supervise contractors and drillers and support report preparation.
• Support project managers on various projects; mix of office and field time.
