Job summary

Verizon Communications is seeking an Outside Plant Engineer in a hybrid role (home office + in-office 3+ days/week) in Ohio. You will oversee multi-stakeholder OSP/ISP fiber extension projects, manage budgets, schedules, and vendor coordination to deliver on time and within budget.

You’ll lead engineering and construction activities, coordinate with contractors and government agencies, and ensure quality through field oversight and documentation using Fiber-X and Canvas.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.
• Three or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through work experience and/or military experience.
• Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.
• Valid Driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Design Routes: Create maps for fiber optic cable paths
• Manage Permits: Work with local cities, towns and departments of transportation to secure rights-of-way permits.
• Ability to coordinate with vendors, utility providers, and local government agencies
• Estimate Costs: Build budgets, material lists, and project timelines.
• Oversee Construction: Direct contractors and check field work for quality.
• Respond to network outages addressing fiber damage for network restoration
• Document Systems: Manage and update records using systems such as Fiber-X and Canvas
