Job summary

Verizon in Florida is seeking an Outside Plant Engineer to oversee OSP/ISP construction and maintenance, coordinating multi-stakeholder projects to deliver fiber to new and existing customers. You’ll manage engineering and construction activities, ensuring on-time delivery, adherence to specifications, and budget alignment.

You’ll lead design routing, permit management with cities and departments of transportation, and collaboration with contractors, vendors, and authorities.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.
• Three or more years of relevant experience.
• Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.
• Valid Driver’s license.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical/science/mathematics fields.
• Experience in CAD, 3GIS, ARCGIS, Google Earth or other mapping software.
• Experience in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with Verizon applications such as ERP, nSAP, Canvas, 3GIS, Fiber-X, FIAT, and VPM.
• Corporate data and reporting platforms (Google Sheets, Excel, Tableau, Cheetah, or others).
• Experience with pole attachment and make-ready processes
• Experience with AI tools to automate repetitive tasks(Gemini, NotebookLM, Claude)

Responsibilities

• Design Routes: Create maps for fiber optic cable paths
• Manage Permits: Work with local cities, towns and departments of transportation to secure rights-of-way permits.
• Ability to coordinate with vendors, utility providers, and local government agencies
• Estimate Costs: Build budgets, material lists, and project timelines.
• Oversee Construction: Direct contractors and check field work for quality.
• Respond to network outages addressing fiber damage for network restoration
• Document Systems: Manage and update records using systems such as Fiber-X and Canvas
