Job summary

SMX is seeking a Data Scientist to join our team for a Federal IT modernization program. You will bridge business needs and technical solutions, emphasize requirements analysis and data-driven decisions, and support IT transformation initiatives.

The role offers advancement opportunities and a competitive benefits package. The salary range for this position is $125,000 — $180,000 USD, with onsite work two days per week at the Taylor Building in Crystal City, Arlington, VA.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship and active DoD Secret clearance required.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 6+ years of related work experience.
• 5+ years hands-on development with Python & PySpark.
• 3 years of Palantir Foundry experience.
• Experience with DevOps/CI/CD using GitLab.
• Army functional knowledge and requirements elicitation.
• Database design: relational and non-relational.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and independently.
• Cloud knowledge: AWS or Azure.
• Proficiency with software engineering tools and version control.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Jr. developers to deliver client requirements.
• Design solutions using Palantir Foundry to meet business needs.
• Analyze and modify existing data model solutions.
• Promote code into production and define tests.
• Build data models and reports from ERP and legacy data.
• Collaborate across teams to ensure effective data-driven decisions.
