Job summary

General Motors is seeking an experienced, people-focused leader to guide the GMNA Fastening Engineering team. You will lead a group of about 12 engineers and specialists, providing technical direction and prioritizing workload across vehicle programs from initiation through Start of Regular Production (SORP).

This role offers opportunities to shape fastening strategy early in development, enable cross-functional decisions, and deliver robust, manufacturable designs with a focus on talent

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in fastening engineering and product development.
• Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
• Experience with GM CAD tools (NX, Teamcenter, Active Workspace).
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Fastener Design Release Engineers and Technical Specialists across experience levels.
• Ensure high-quality engineering deliverables across multiple vehicle architectures and programs from initiation through SORP.
• Assign and balance team resources to meet timing and priorities.
• Provide day-to-day fastening and joining support to internal teams and suppliers.
• Lead problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration in advanced vehicle development.
• Guide fastening selection, materials, joint design, torque strategies, and best practices.
