Job summary

NRDC seeks an Attorney to join the Litigation Team in one of its U.S. offices, with a preference for Santa Monica. The role involves leading record-review cases in federal or state courts, drafting pleadings, and collaborating with partners and NRDC teams.

The position supports growth and institutional work within NRDC’s environmental mission. The attorney will handle active litigation around 85-90% and contribute to training, mentoring, and cross-cutting initiatives, with 5-15% travel to NRDC

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate degree required.
• Admission to the state bar in the jurisdiction of practice or willingness to complete the requirements.
• 3 to 8 years of post-law school experience, with at least 4 years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Litigate cases for NRDC and partners, lead record-review cases with limited oversight.
• Develop oral argument and court presentation skills under supervision.
• Work within a case team on complex matters, including discovery through trial.
• Build client, co-counsel, and coalition relationships in NRDC and with partners.
• Research cross-cutting litigation issues and serve as a team resource.
