Job summary

Vanasse Hangen Brustlin Inc. seeks an Entry Level Transit & Rail Engineer to join our Washington, DC, or Tysons, VA offices. This role involves supporting high-profile projects, civil design for rail, and collaboration within a multi-discipline team.

You will assist in project management, fieldwork, and design, with opportunities to learn AREMA practices and obtain your EIT within six months. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering.
• 0-1 years of professional railroad and/or rail transit and engineering design.
• EIT preferred or the ability to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Assist VHB team on high-profile projects like: Final Design of VRE L'Enfant Station in Washington, DC; Preliminary Engineering for CC2DCA multimodal bridge connection project in Arlington, VA; Arlington County Metro Ballston West Entrance Design-Build and other transit/rail projects.
• Engineering efforts include supporting all aspects of project management, fieldwork, and design.
• Perform civil design on rail projects including track structure and drainage, alignment geometry, grade crossings, stations, and layover facilities for concept, preliminary, final design and construction phases.
• Support Project Development from conceptual design through construction with supporting documentation.
• Assist with meetings with design team, clients and major stakeholders.
• Draft project details and plans using MicroStation or AutoCAD.
