Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Entry Project Controls Specialist to join our Project Controls Team. The role focuses on planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and project performance support for projects of basic complexity.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree, familiarity with Primavera and EcoSys, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment with project teams and vendors.

Qualifications

• Entry level knowledge of project management methodology including budget development, project planning, control and assurance methodologies, and finance and accounting concepts and practices.
• Good teamwork and collaboration skills and an ability to work well in fast paced environments requiring daily shifting of priorities.
• Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact with varying levels of staff, as well as vendors.
• Entry knowledge of Enterprise Project Portfolio Management tools (Primavera).
• Basic knowledge of Project Performance tools (EcoSys).
• Good interpersonal and presentation skills for interacting with team members and clients.
• Ability to deal with many people, and process a variety of requests as necessary.
• Good computer skills including proficiency in MS Word and Excel; organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.

Responsibilities

• Supports compliance with internal procedures and regulations. Gathers project progress data to update basic complexity projects.
• Develops and analyzes time-phased cost and resource forecasts; updates requirements as needed.
• Monitors progress of deliverables and performs basic financial analyses including variance and risk.
• Prepares routine client and internal status reports communicating cost status and trends.
• Uses document management protocols to store and retrieve project documents.
• Performs other duties as required.
