Job summary

GFT in Roseville, CA is seeking an Entry Level Geologist to join the Geotechnical, Dams & Hydraulics team. This role follows a hybrid work model and requires regular attendance at our Roseville office.

You will assist with subsurface investigation programs, geotechnical reports, and field reconnaissance, supporting dam, transportation, and water infrastructure projects while building foundational experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geoscience, Geology, Engineering Geology, Geological Engineering, Geophysics or a related discipline.
• 0-3 years of experience in geology, engineering geology, or related discipline.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; analytical and reporting abilities.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Perform groundwater analysis, geologic hazard assessments and slope stability analyses with data interpretation and design considerations.
• Compile and manage geotechnical data and prepare boring logs and subsurface profiles.
• Assist in geotechnical reports, drawings, proposals, and specifications.
• Conduct field reconnaissance to evaluate geotechnical, geologic and hydrogeologic conditions.
• Support subsurface explorations and laboratory testing programs.
• Assist in design and evaluation of geotechnical projects, including slopes and foundations.
• Provide construction observation support during project execution.
• Travel to other GFT offices or sites as needed, including overnight trips.
