Job summary

GFT is seeking a Geologist to join our Geotechnical, Dams and Hydraulics team in Roseville, CA or Oakland, CA. The role follows a hybrid work model with regular office attendance.

You will support geologic investigations, develop models, and prepare technical reports for projects including dams, levees, and water conveyance systems. The team emphasizes safety, collaboration, and mentorship within a diverse geosciences group.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Geology or related discipline.
• 5–10 years of increasing responsibility in engineering geology type projects.
• Current Professional Geologist (PG) license in California.
• Experience developing, conducting, and managing engineering geology projects/tasks independently or as part of a larger team.
• Ability to thrive on a diverse, close-knit geology team and willingness to learn from mentors.
• Strong, professional level oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient use of standard office software programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Organizes and performs geologic investigations to characterize geologic/geotechnical conditions.
• Compiles and analyzes geologic data, including maps and construction records.
• Interprets data and prepares cross-sections and geologic maps.
• Prepares field exploration work plans and comprehensive technical reports.
• Performs construction observation and instrumentation installation.
• Manages project budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
• Directs lower level geosciences personnel on tasks.
• Assists with managing existing clients and developing new business opportunities.
