Job summary

IAT Insurance Group is offering a Networking Intern position in its IT Business Unit at the Cheshire, Connecticut location for the summer of 2027. The role provides real-world networking experience including monitoring infrastructure and hands-on practice with switches and routers.

The internship runs May 24th, 2027 to August 30th, 2027 on a hybrid schedule with in-office Monday-Wednesday and optional remote Thursday-Friday.

Qualifications

• Must be a rising undergraduate sophomore, junior, or senior pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Networking or MIS.
• Must be able to work out of Cheshire, CT office without housing or relocation assistance.
• Must complete the 10-week internship (May 24, 2027 – August 30, 2027).
• Desire to learn about Enterprise networking.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Track record of outstanding academic performance.
• Eagerness to contribute to a team-oriented environment.
• Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment.
• Excellent leadership, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Review nightly backup jobs of key networking equipment.
• Identify networking areas for improvement and adjustments.
• Document routes, ACLs, and firewall rules.
• Network monitoring and hands-on experience configuring switches and routers.
• Shadow changes, upgrades and network design.
• Perform other duties as needed.
