Job summary

The State of Connecticut, Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) invites applications for an Engineer Trainee in Hartford. This 35-hour per week, full-time position provides training in air quality planning within the Attainment Planning Group, with progression to higher engineering roles after the training year.

Candidates should have a relevant engineering degree, interest in air pollution control, and ability to work in a team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • Experience with air quality concepts, modeling, and data analysis is preferred.
  • Familiarity with photochemical grid models, atmospheric chemistry, and meteorology is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with engineering assessments and emission-related analyses.
  • Review emission inventories and contribute to regional modeling.
  • Support daily air quality forecasts and reporting.
  • Prepare technical and engineering reports.
