Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) invites applications for the Energy Systems Analyst Graduate Intern position for Fall 2026. The role focuses on energy systems modeling, technoeconomic assessment, lifecycle analysis, and geospatial/network optimization in a part-time arrangement.

Open to graduate students or recent graduates, the internship offers a hybrid work setup with up to 20 hours weekly and a 6–9 month duration, reporting to the Engineering organization.

Qualifications

• Eligible to access LLNL as per NDAA Section 3112.
• Pursuing a graduate degree or recently completed bachelor’s degree.
• Part-time availability 10–20 hrs/week for 6–9 months.
• Academic or research background in energy systems or related fields.
• Experience with technoeconomic assessment, lifecycle assessment, geospatial analysis, or network optimization.
• Familiarity with Python, MATLAB, R, Excel, GIS software, or optimization solvers.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Conduct technoeconomic and lifecycle assessments of energy systems.
• Develop geospatial analysis and network optimization using data.
• Synthesize findings to evaluate configurations and scale-up potential.
• Conduct research with limited supervision in a multidisciplinary team.
• Prepare technical summaries, presentations and visualizations.
• Contribute to project deliverables and collaborative work.
