Job summary

ISO New England Inc. is seeking a Communications Engineer to lead design, testing, implementation, monitoring and debugging of critical power system model changes to the EMS related to SCADA communications. The engineer will gain in-depth knowledge of the New England communication systems.

The role includes supporting RTU/PMU installations, monitoring data networks, and developing custom EMS applications. 24x7 on-call support and a hybrid onsite/work-from-home schedule are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
• 1+ year of networking experience.
• Experience with Linux scripting, PERL, Java, PowerShell or SQL.
• Ability to respond quickly to problems in communications systems and data.
• Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills.
• Team player with ability to work in fast-paced, changing priorities.
• Preferred: experience with GE eTerraPlatform EMS, SCADA/RTU/ICCP knowledge, and PMU devices.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day technical support and leadership of EMS communication system applications.
• Support and implement new RTU/PMU installations and testing for assets.
• Support Audio/Visual systems in the control room environment.
• Monitor and tune critical data communication systems including ICCP and Front End Systems.
• Develop and support custom EMS data automation and monitoring applications.
• Participate in team meetings to understand data communication tasks.
• Collaborate with Satellite, SCADA and Interregional Control center personnel to direct changes to ICCP and EIDSN databases.
• Provide 24x7 on-call support of EMS communication applications on a rotating basis.
