Job summary

TKDA, an employee-owned engineering and design firm, seeks a Professional Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design for commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities from its Bloomington, MN area office. You will collaborate with multi-discipline teams and manage design from concept through construction.

The role emphasizes strong communication, code compliance, and coordination with architects and other engineers, with travel up to 10% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• PE license in Minnesota or ability to obtain within 12–18 months.
• 4+ years in power, lighting, and signal design for government, educational and industrial facilities.
• Experience with electrical distribution equipment: panels, transformers, lighting, fire alarm, security, data systems.
• Knowledge of NEC and Minnesota Building Code (including Energy Code / ASHRAE 90.1).
• High proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with SKM PowerTools, ETAP, LightStanza, or Visual Lighting.
• MS Office Suite proficiency; strong collaboration with architects and MEPs.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% for meetings and site visits.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design work from concept through construction for complex facilities.
• Develop safe, reliable, and efficient electrical systems meeting client needs and codes.
• Support construction administration by answering contractor questions and reviewing shop drawings.
• Observe work for compliance with project documents and coordinate with architecture and engineering teams.
