Job summary

NV5 is seeking a Distribution Engineer II in San Diego, CA to support the Transmission & Distribution electrical design group, primarily using PLS-CADD, with hybrid work (4x in office /1x remote).

You will collaborate with a team of engineers on design, analysis, plans, specifications, and construction documents, ensuring adherence to client needs, budgets, and schedules. California-specific codes and standards knowledge is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• MS degree preferred.
• Familiar with GO95, NESC, IEEE, ASCE codes.
• 3–5 years experience with PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
• EIT certification.

Responsibilities

• Follow budgets and schedules; identify issues early to meet client expectations.
• Will be assigned to project teams and may make major design recommendations.
• Coordinate all design work with other team disciplines.
• Provide quality assurance checks on drawing packages and calculations prepared by others.
• Interpret and apply client, company, and industry standards as needed.
• Increase knowledge of relevant local codes and industry standards.
• Design, manage plan production by staff, and assist in production of construction documents, including plans, specifications, calculations, and quantity takeoffs.
• Provide quality assurance checks on drawing packages and calculations prepared by others.

• Demonstrate proficient knowledge of appropriate local codes and industry standards.
• Analyze and solve construction and operational problems.
• Assist in the preparation of proposals for new work via scope and fee development.
