Job summary

NV5, Inc. in San Diego, CA is seeking a Distribution Engineer II to support our Transmission & Distribution electrical design group. This hybrid position requires in-office work 4 days and 1 day remote, based in NV5’s San Diego office.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering, 3–5 years of experience with PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE, and familiarity with industry codes (NESC, IEEE, ASCE). EIT certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• MS Degree in a relevant field is preferred.
• Must be familiar with industry codes and standards (NESC, IEEE, ASCE) and keep up to date with GO95.
• 3–5 years of experience with PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
• SDG&E experience is a plus.
• EIT Certification is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Follow budgets and schedules; identify departures or issues early to meet client expectations for technical excellence, budget and schedule.
• Be assigned to project teams and may make major design recommendations.
• Coordinate all design work with other team disciplines.
• Provide quality assurance checks on drawing packages and calculations prepared by others.
• Interpret and apply client, company, and field standards as needed.
• Increase knowledge of relevant local codes and industry standards.
• Design, manage plan production by staff, and assist in production of construction documents, including plans, specifications, calculations, and quantity takeoffs.
• Provide quality assurance checks on drawing packages and calculations prepared by others.
• Interpret and apply client, company, and industry standards as needed.
• Demonstrate proficient knowledge of appropriate local codes and industry standards.
• Analyze and solve construction and operational problems.
• Assist in the preparation of proposals for new work via scope and fee development.

As our Distribution Engineer, you will support our Transmission & Distribution electrical design group. Our Distribution Engineers are goal-oriented who support our Transmission & Distribution electrical design group using PLS-CADD mainly, or O-Calc, Spida Calc or other equivalent software. They are responsive, proactive, solutions-oriented professional, working collaboratively within a team environment.

This position is based in NV5’s San Diego, CA office.

The pay range for this California position is $85,000- $105,000 annual salary; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per California Senate Bill 1162. Base pay information is based on market location.
