Job summary

WhatJobs Direct is seeking an experienced Dispute Resolution Attorney to join our client's legal team in Upington, Northern Cape. You will manage litigation, arbitration, and mediation to resolve disputes efficiently while advancing the company's interests.

The role requires strong analytical and advocacy skills, thorough knowledge of South African civil procedure, and the ability to work in a hybrid setup with both in‑office and remote collaboration.

Qualifications

• Qualified attorney with LLB and admitted to practice in SA.
• Minimum 4–6 years post-qualification experience in dispute resolution or litgation.

Responsibilities

• Manage all stages of litigation from inception through discovery and trial.
• Represent the company in court, arbitrations, mediations and other ADR forums.
• Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to build strong cases and strategies.
• Draft pleadings, briefs, motions and settlement agreements.
• Interview clients and witnesses and prepare them for testimony.
• Negotiate settlements and advise clients on risks and outcomes.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business context of disputes.
• Oversee external counsel and ensure cost-effective resolution of disputes.
• Stay current with legal developments and procedural rules relevant to dispute resolution.
