About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Litigation Attorney to join their fully remote legal team. This is a unique opportunity to work from anywhere within South Africa, contributing to a forward-thinking legal practice that values expertise and flexibility. You will be instrumental in managing complex litigation cases from inception through to resolution, providing strategic legal counsel, and representing clients across various jurisdictions. This role is based in Upington, Northern Cape, but the work itself is conducted entirely remotely, allowing you to manage your workload and client interactions from your chosen location.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of complex litigation matters, including discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
• Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to develop case strategies.
• Draft pleadings, briefs, and other legal documents with precision and clarity.
• Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and other dispute resolution proceedings.
• Advise clients on legal rights, obligations, and potential risks associated with litigation.
• Effectively communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
• Collaborate with other attorneys and legal staff in a virtual team environment.
• Stay abreast of legal developments and evolving case law relevant to litigation practice.
• Maintain accurate and organized case files, ensuring compliance with court rules and deadlines.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney with at least 8 years of post-qualification experience, with a significant focus on civil litigation.
• Demonstrated success in handling complex commercial litigation, personal injury, or other relevant areas.
• Exceptional courtroom advocacy and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in electronic discovery tools and litigation support software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, essential for remote interaction.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.

• Must be a member in good standing with the relevant legal professional body in South Africa.
