Job summary

TPC Wire & Cable Corp. in Ohio seeks a Design Engineering Manager to lead the design, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems, focusing on connectorized solutions, manufacturability, and reliability.

This role owns the development of the Design Engineering team and partners with Product Management, Application Engineering, Operations, and Sourcing to deliver profitable, high-quality products to market.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
• 8+ years of progressive engineering experience in product design.
• Experience leading design projects from concept through launch in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong organizational and project management skills with technical writing ability.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proficiency with 2D/3D CAD/CAM tools and familiarity with PDM/PLM and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, direction, and day-to-day management for the Design Engineering team.
• Set technical direction, design standards, and best practices for new product development.
• Oversee design and development of connectorized solutions with manufacturability and cost targets.
• Coordinate with Product Management to translate market needs into engineering priorities.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration to optimize designs for cost, quality, and supply chain robustness.
• Ensure engineering deliverables include drawings, models, specs, test plans, and risk analyses.
• Coach, review performance, and develop engineers; plan portfolio and resources.
• Support visits to supplier/customer sites for design reviews and launches.
• Maintain expert knowledge in materials, connector technology, and manufacturing processes.
