Job summary

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center seeks a Department Administrator to act as administrator and chief business officer for one or more academic departments. Oversees faculty recruitment, financial and personnel management, clinical operations, and research administration in a collaborative leadership-driven environment.

The ideal candidate will show high emotional intelligence, strategic thinking, and the ability to lead across faculty, staff, and HALs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required.
• Master's degree preferred for advanced leadership responsibilities.
• Seven years of healthcare/business management experience with three years in a supervisory role.
• Experience in academic medicine or healthcare, clinical operations, and budget planning is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Strategic planning and development for medical oncology across all locations.
• Personnel management including recruitment, credentialing, and performance evaluations.
• Operations management of departmental processes and policies.
• Financial management: budgeting, billing, and reporting for multiple sites.
• Clinical service management across HALs and LBJ with travel as needed.
• Clinical practice analysis and accurate coding/documentation oversight.
• Clinical research management and infrastructure development for oncology programs.
• Training program administration for fellowships and CME activities.
• Quality assurance and internal controls across the department.
• Information systems integration and data reporting for department needs.
• Administration and records management ensuring HIPAA compliance.
• Physical resource planning and space management across Texas locations.
