Job summary

Vanguard seeks a Senior Data Science Manager in Malvern to lead a team delivering diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics for conversational AI and cross-functional initiatives across marketing, supply chain, and economic research.

You will shape data science strategy, mentor analysts, and communicate insights to senior leaders while advancing model validation and innovative analytics capabilities.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of experience in data science roles.
• Expertise in NLP, Generative and Agentic Solutions.
• Deep understanding of Transformer Architectures and experience in improving performance of Agents.
• Programming skills to access,transform and prepare large scale data for machine learning modeling.
• Experience utilizing statistical and machine learning methods.
• Experience in creating explainable ML solutions and attribution methodologies.
• Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Analytics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or related field of study or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Graduate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and engages in deep dive diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics to support data-driven business decision making in conversational AI Projects.
• Creates alternative model approaches to assess complex model design and advance future capabilities.
• Manages a team of data scientists responsible for a portfolio of diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics projects to support data-driven business decision making.
• Supports the continuous evolution and strategy of Vanguard's data science capabilities.
• Identifies data inconsistencies and errors, documents data assumptions, and forages to fill data gaps.
• Engages with internal stakeholders to understand and probe business processes in order to develop hypotheses.
• Brings structure to requests and translates requirements into an analytic approach.
• Guides test design, research design, and model validation.
• Provides statistical consultation services.
• Serves as the analytics expert on cross functional teams for large strategic initiatives and contributes to the growth of the Vanguard analytic community.
• Executes operational plans to achieve department objectives.
• Collaborates with department or functional heads in planning, developing, and executing near-term goals.
• Prepares, reviews, and delivers insight presentations and action recommendations.
• Communicates complex analytical findings and implications to business leaders.
• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
• Designs and refines data mining architectures, analytical protocols, and statistical reporting methods to identify actionable trends in large and complex datasets.
• Applies advanced data science principles and emerging technologies to develop models that inform strategic decisions across functions such as marketing, supply chain, and economic forecasting.
• Conducts research to evaluate cutting-edge analytics methodologies, aiming to enhance organizational capabilities and maintain competitive advantage.
• Hires, evaluates, and supervises crew.
• Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew.
• Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
