Job summary

UL Solutions is seeking a Data Science Intern to join our teams in Northbrook, IL or Chicago, IL. The role is hybrid—three days on-site at the Northbrook or Chicago office—offering hands-on analytics work and exposure to leadership decisions.

The internship targets rising seniors in Data Science, CS, or related fields, with experience in SQL, Python, Excel, and Power BI. You will help prepare dashboards and reports and gain real-world experience in a safety-science context.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate student in a quantitative field pursuing a degree.
• Ability to work with large datasets and structured/unstructured data.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Work with large, complex datasets from multiple enterprise systems.
• Perform data analysis to identify trends and insights.
• Assist in cleaning, structuring, and standardizing data.
• Support dashboards, KPI reporting, and data summaries for leadership.
• Conduct market research and competitive benchmarking.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate questions into outputs.
• Document findings clearly and present insights in a business-ready format.
