Job summary

Selective Insurance invites undergraduate juniors and seniors to join the Ignite Internship Program at our Short Hills, NJ corporate office for an 11-week, full-time internship. You’ll work with experienced data scientists on descriptive and prescriptive analytics, developing skills in data exploration, modeling, and presenting results to business partners.

This hybrid role requires commuting distance to Short Hills, NJ.

Qualifications

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Critical thinking and analytical skills; identify solutions, not just execute.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Beginner level of Python; higher levels preferred.
• Experience with SQL is a plus.
• Pursuing a degree in analytics such as math, statistics, data science, ML or CS.

Responsibilities

• Identify analytical solutions to business problems.
• Explore data trends to find drivers of metrics.
• Create predictive models to support analysis.
• Evaluate model performance and improvements.
• Evaluate new ML, AI, and generative AI tools.
• Present findings to business partners for adoption.
