Advance Local Media is seeking a Data Governance Specialist - Technology in Jersey City, NJ. This role blends remote work with periodic in-office attendance and reports to the Director of Risk, Compliance & Support.

You will drive data governance, risk controls, and DPIAs while collaborating with engineering and security teams to safeguard data and enable compliant, data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• 3–5 years’ experience in GRC, data governance, data management, or related role.
• Experience leading cross-discipline project teams.
• Excellent oral and written communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with data analysis and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement data governance standards and controls across data assets.
• Lead data classification, dictionaries, metadata, and lineage documentation with engineering teams.
• Enforce PII handling and data retention standards across environments.
• Provide training to data owners and stewards on governance best practices.
• Support DPIAs and risk assessments as required by privacy laws.
• Create reports and dashboards to monitor governance, quality, and compliance metrics.
